Robert F. Quain (1904-1990) was elected to The Lambs as Non-Professional member. He was the manager of the Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue. He resigned from The Lambs in 1971 when it was in crisis mode.
Quain was born and raised in Binghamton, New York, and left town to work as a bellman at the Roosevelt Hotel in Manhattan. Bob was sent to Penn Station to meet Conrad Hilton and carry his bags. Hilton was so impressed with Bob Quain’s personality he promoted him to management on the spot. Hospitality suites were the brainchild of Quain. He managed the Ambassador East in Chicago for Queen Elizabeth II’s first visit to the U.S.
Later he managed the Hilton Hotel on Sixth Avenue. Bob retired 1971 as Senior Vice President of Hilton. He was made a Papal Knight of Malta and served as an Usher at Saint Patrick’s Cathedral.
Robert F. Quain died in 1990 in Florida.
