Adams, Leslie

(Charles) Leslie Adams was born in 1887 in Stark, Florida. He was a circus clown, a carnival barker and a vaudevillian before becoming a stage actor. His first success on Broadway was in 1932 at the Biltmore Theater in the play Carrie Nation where he played the role of David Nation. According to the Playbill for that show, he had played in other New York shows including Doctor X (1931), Beware of Widows (1925), and The Haunted House (1924).He was also known for playing the States Attorney O’Brien in the Ben Hecht/Charles MacArthur play Crime without Passion in 1934. He passed away in New York City on March 26, 1936 at the age of 49. –RET
