William Henry Allen (1878-1951) was a U.S. Naval officer and military member of The Lambs.
Allen was born 28 June 1878, in Florence, South Carolina. He was among at least a family of eight; born to James Allen and Julia Marshall Allen. He was a graduate of South Carolina State College and the U.S. Naval Academy. He served in the Philippine Islands on Cavite and in Washington, D.C.
As a member of the U.S. Navy he was elected as an Army and Navy member in 1914.
He rose to the rank of rear admiral. In World War II he was Commandant, 6th, 7th, and 8th Naval Districts and Navy Yard, Charleston, South Carolina.
Admiral Allen died on 9 February 1951. He in interred in his hometown, Mount Hope Cemetery, in Florence.
