A student of classical music, Baron accepted the post if Assistant Conductor for the Boston Opera Company, later as a violinist with the Seattle and San Francisco Symphony Orchestras. Baron moved to New York City to become the General Music Director for the old Roxy Theater. At the age of 43, he became staff composer and conductor at the newly opened Radio City Music Hall (December 27, 1932), a position he held for seventeen years until 1947.
Composed many film scores, among them include The River (which is now considered a classic), What Price Glory, The Big Parade. Songs include “Kissamiss,” “I Must be going to the Dogs.
