Frank Carter went on stage at age five. He was an actor and acrobatic dancer. He was the juvenile lead in See-Saw (1919). He was one of the earliest members of Actors’ Equity; we aren’t sure the date he joined The Lambs.
He married dancer-singer Marilyn Miller on May 24, 1919 at the Church of the Ascension in New York City. They were both appearing in the Follies. Flo Ziegfeld was so angry he fired them both.
He bought a new car for his wife and was driving it to Philadelphia to meet her when he was killed in a car accident in Cumberland, Maryland on May 9, 1920. He was 28. He left an estate of $14,000 (about $193,000 today). Carter and Miller rest in a mausoleum in Woodlawn Cemetery, the Bronx, in the Heather section.
