Russel Crouse (Feb. 20, 1893 – April 3, 1966) was a playwright and librettist, best known for his Broadway work with partner Howard Lindsay. Together they revised the book for Cole Porter’s Anything Goes, then later adapted Life with Father. They owned and operated the Hudson Theater, not far from The Lambs’ clubhouse on 44th street. They collaborated on the 1960 Tony Award winning musical, The Sound of Music, with fellow Richard Rodgers and Lamb Oscar Hammerstein II.
