Kevin C. Fitzpatrick was elected a Theatrical member of The Lambs on 22 May 2015. He is an award-winning author.
Kevin was elected as Shepherd of The Lambs in 2023, succeeding Marc Baron.
He has served The Lambs as Historian/Librarian, editor of The Script, and Admissions Committee Chairman. He served the Lambs’ Foundation as Curator. During his term as curator, Kevin led the way for a conservation and preservation program to begin of the clubhouse artwork. Many portraits of past shepherds, and works by such luminaries as Howard Chandler Christy and James Montgomery Flagg, have been saved.
Kevin is the author and editor of eight books that are all tied to New York City history. His most recent is 111 Places in the Bronx That You Must Not Miss (Emons), the first guide to the borough in five years. His previous book, World War One New York: A Guide to the City’s Enduring Ties to the Great War (Globe Pequot Press); won the Apple Award for Outstanding Achievement in Non-Fiction Book Writing by the Guides Association of New York City (GANYC). He has also written The Algonquin Round Table New York (Globe Pequot Press), Under The Table: A Dorothy Parker Cocktail Guide (Lyons Press), and A Journey Into Dorothy Parker’s New York (Roaring Forties Press). He is the editor of Dorothy Parker Complete Broadway, 1918-1923 (Donald Books) and co-editor The Lost Algonquin Round Table (Donald Books). Fitzpatrick is also co-host, with Joanna Leban, of the podcast Joanna and Kevin’s Big Show, which records at The Lambs. In 2019 it won the GANYC Apple Award for Outstanding Achievement in New York City Podcast or Spoken Word Recording.
Kevin launched dorothyparker.com in 1998 and founded the Dorothy Parker Society, dedicated to the New York author, critic, poet, and wit. In 2020 he led the way for Parker’s cremains to be transferred from Baltimore to The Bronx, and interred next to her parents. The New Yorker wrote a profile of his efforts.
Kevin is a licensed NYC sightseeing guide, and has been leading literary and history tours of New York for 20 years with his company Big Apple Fanatics Tours. He leads walking tours of Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Governors Island. He has also led tours to visit Lambs interred in Woodlawn Cemetery and Green-Wood Cemetery. In his spare time he is a WWI reenactor and enjoys sleeping in a tent and marching in parades, things he did 30 years ago in the Marine Corps.
He created, researches, and writes the “Kensico Vaudeville Project,” to document the members of the National Vaudeville Association interred in Westchester County. In 2014 he was chairman of the Marx Brothers Festival, Marxfest.
Kevin served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1984 to 1989 and today resides in Manhattan with his family.
