Freeman, Lea Dea

Lea David Freeman (1887-1976), was a playwright and former continuity writer for Columbia Pictures.

Freeman had lived in the Lambs’ 44th Street clubhouse and for 20 years in Los Angeles. Born in Galveston, Tex., he was graduated from Yale University Law School in 1910. In 1933, his play Widow in Green, with Grace George, was produced in Los Angeles.

He wrote Golden Lady, play that was produced in the Hollywood Bowl in the early 1940’s. In 1934, a film entitled Lazy River, starring Jean Parker, was based on a play he wrote.

He was elected to The Lambs in 1950. Freeman was a member of the Yale Club and the Dramatists Club.

He died August 1976 in the Touro Infirmary in New Orleans. He was 89 years old.
