James Scott Glascock (20 March 1952-27 August 2016) was an actor, philanthropist, attorney, and investor. He left the corporate world to pursue acting and voice-over work. He was an active participant in numerous clubs. Glascock was elected to The Lambs in 1992; he served on the Lambs’ Council for many years and was elected Boy. For his support for the Club and devotion to its future, he was named an Immortal Lamb.
J. Scott Glascock–everyone knew him as Scott–was born in Richmond, Virginia, the only child of James A. Glascock, Jr. and Adelaide Boze Glascock. He grew up in Short Hills, New Jersey, and attended Short Hills Country Day School. He graduated from the Pingry School, in Hillside, New Jersey, in 1970.
He earned a bachelor of arts from Yale University in 1974 and graduated from Vanderbilt University School of Law in 1977.
Glascock moved to New York and his professional career included positions as Associate from 1977-1981 at Olwine Connelly Chase O’Donnell & Weyher; Senior Associate from 1981-1984 at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett; and Senior Associate at Millbank Tweed Hadley & McCloy. He was a financial consultant from 1984-1993 at Shearson Lehman Brothers and a financial consultant from 1993-2002 at Merrill Lynch.
Glascock joined The Lambs in 1992. He was elected Boy in 2013, and became a Life Member in 2014. He served The Lambs in many capacities, including chairman of the Admissions Committee, and as a respected financial adviser.
Professionally, Glascock acted in film, theatre, and as a voice-over artist. He was a member of Actors Equity and SAG-AFTRA. For 35 years he was a member of the Amateur Comedy Club, appearing in 18 major productions at the ACC, the last as Mr. Frencham in Not Now, Darling in 2015. He directed three productions, participated in special projects, and was on many committees.
Glascock loved the world of New York club life; the fellowship of members were his extended family. Besides The Lambs, he was a member of The Players (life member), Amateur Comedy Club (past president and archivist), Yale Club of New York (past president), Episcopal Actors Guild (treasurer and life member), and the Dutch Treat Club.
He was past president and JP Morgan Award winner and life member of the New England Society in the City of New York, and St. George’s Society of New York (life member).
Glascock died 27 August 2016. He was 64 years old. His memorial service was held at the Church of the Transfiguration, the Little Church Around the Corner. The attendees from all the clubs he belonged to filled the church to capacity.
In recognition for Scott Glascock’s generosity to The Lambs and The Lambs’ Foundation, a small scholarship has been created in his honor. In December 2019, Glascock was named an Immortal Lamb.
