Frances Lya Haby was a Non-Professional member of The Lambs, elected sometime after 1977. She served on the New York Public Library Board of Trustees.
She wrote this letter to the New York Times, published Nov. 30, 1997:
“I was deeply moved by J. Robert Moskin’s ”Unfinished Business” (Lives, Nov. 9, 1997). I was in Manila when the Japanese invaded the Philippines, and I stood on the street watching the soldiers pass by on their death march. I was looking for my fiance, who I knew had been in Bataan. I saw him and he saw me, and this was the last time we saw each other.”
