Hannafin, Daniel P.

Daniel Patrick Hannafin, Sr. (February 8, 1933 – December 1, 2020) was a Theatrical member of The Lambs. His year of election is not recorded. Dan was an actor in film, television, and Broadway.

Hannafin was born in New York on February 8, 1933, to Daniel Hannafin and Eleanor Catterson Hannafin, and grew up in Woodside. He graduated from William Cullen Bryant High School in Astoria. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard for three years, primarily aboard the cutter Chambers out of New Bedford, Massachusetts. Returning home to New York, he undertook vocal studies at the Juilliard School of Music and began a career in theater. On August 11, 1962, he married dancer Carol Schmidt, with whom he raised two sons.

Dan appeared as an actor and singer in scores roles, known for Patch Adams (1998), The Program (1993) and Shaft’s Big Score! (1972). His 1960s Broadway musical credits included Camelot and Brigadoon. Hannafin was in the 1965 revival of Oklahoma!  as Jud. In the 1980s he toured with West Side Story as Lt. Schrank. 

Dan died during the COVID-19 Pandemic in Chapin, South Carolina, on December 1, 2020. He was eighty-seven years old.
