Jason Trachtenburg is a New York City based playwright, songsmith, and actor. He was elected as a Theatrical member of The Lambs in March 2023.

Trachtenburg is still best known for his role as “The Dad” in the long running Off-Broadway musical, “The Trachtenburg Family Slideshow Players.” The act also featured his wife, Tina Pina Trachtenburg (a.k.a Mother Pigeon) and his daughter, Rachel Trachtenburg.

The family band appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brian and was a multiple time award winner at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. They performed over 30 sold out shows at London’s Soho Theatre, as well as at the Bonnaroo Festival. The Trachtenburg’s received headlining coverage in countless publications including The New York Times, The Times of London, The New Yorker, Spin Magazine, andThe Guardian of London. Jason has given a Ted Talk. The band’s debut album, “Vintage Slide Collections From Seattle Volume 1,” (Bar None Records) peaked at #79 on the C.M.J. Top 200 in 2003.

Trachtenburg has composed thousands of songs. His musical specialities are jingles, theme songs, big band swing, children’s music, country music, and pop-rock.

Trachtenburg has authored two complete musicals (book and music). “Dr. Glassheart,” (2011) and “Me and Lee,” (The authorized musical biography of Judyth Vary Baker – the secret girlfriend of Lee Harvey Oswald.) (2018.) He is currently penning his third musical, “The Statue,” a Russian Ballet inspired by Alexander Pushkin and Fyodor Dostoevsky. He will be premiering this new musical at The Lambs.

Trachtenburg was a radio producer for Gary Null’s Progressive Radio Network, and served as the president of the 4th Street Food Co-op from 2008-2018. He has received a Certificate in Plant Based Nutrition from Cornell University.
