George Jessel (April 3, 1898 – May 23, 1981) An actor, singer, songwriter and film producer, best known as a comedian and Toastmaster. By the age of 10 he appeared in Vaudeville. He had a starring role in the stage production of The Jazz Singer. He produced 24 films/musicals for 20th Century Fox. He was a founding member of the California branch of The Friars and frequently hosted their celebrity roasts. In the 1950’s he had a radio show which became a television series 1953-1954.
