La Shelle, Kirke

Kirke La Shelle (1862-1905) was elected to The Lambs May 9, 1892, as a Professional Member.

He was born as Martin Kirk LaShell in Wyoming, Illinois.

He was a successful manager and producer in the Gilded Age. His business was called the Kirke-La Shelle Company. He was a journalist, playwright, and theatrical producer. He partnered with Lamb Augustus Thomas to produce the smash-hit Arizona in Chicago. He was active in stage shows for several years.

Kirke La Shelle died of a sudden case of Phlebitis, an inflammation of his leg, in Bellport, Long Island. He was 42. He was interred in Woodland Cemetery.
