Lamont, Elizabeth Rae

Elizabeth Rae Lamont (13 Feb 1907-22 Jan 1996) was president of the Ziegfeld Club, a venerable Broadway charitable organization established in 1936. It endeavors to keep alive and cherish the memory of Florenz Ziegfeld Jr. and the women of the Ziegfeld Follies.

In 1993 she said, “We have to take associate members, because we’re all dying off. Most of us are in our seventies and eighties. I’ll be 86 next month.”

She was elected to The Lambs in 1988 as a Professional member. Her daughter, Paula Lamont, was elected in 1993.

Her career as a beautician/cosmetologist in the 1940s-1950s took off. In the 1950s she was beauty counselor of the New York Herald Tribune. She was a health and beauty consultant for more than 50 years.

Elizabeth Rae Lamont died Jan. 22, 1996. She was 88 years old.
