Mack, Lester

Lester MackLester Mack was a journeyman actor elected to The Lambs in 1950. He was born in Springport, Michigan, on October 25, 1905.

Mack worked extensively in film, theater, and television. He is best known for his role as Mr. Bimble in the 1956 Alan Freed rock-and-roll film Rock, Rock, Rock!, one of the earliest motion pictures to feature groundbreaking artists such as Chuck Berry, The Flamingos, and Frankie Lymon and the Teenagers.

His film credits also include portraying R. J. Case in the 1964 film The Parisienne and the Prudes, as well as a cameo appearance in the musical Funny Girl (1968), starring Barbra Streisand.

On stage, Mack appeared in the national touring company of The Moon Is Blue and originated the role of Mr. McGillicuddy in Tennessee Williams’s Period of Adjustment, which opened at the Helen Hayes Theatre on November 10, 1960. Following his Broadway run, he appeared on television, including the classic series Route 66 (1960).

Lester Mack was married to Hazel Kempf. He died on October 11, 1972, in New York City, and is interred at Imlay Cemetery in Imlay City, Michigan.
