Julia O’Connell works in book publishing as a publicist and editor. She was elected to the Lambs in 2023 as a Junior Theatrical member.
Julia currently works in publicity and editorial at Penzler Publishers, an independent press that specializes in mysteries, thrillers, suspense, and true crime. She has also done freelance work for Scribd and independent authors and agencies.
Before ever starting a career in books, reading was—and continues to be—one of Julia’s favorite hobbies. She launched her book blog The Gothic Library after graduating college in 2015 and has faithfully posted weekly book reviews and essays in the years since. Through The Gothic Library, Julia explores her interest in the Gothic literary movement of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries by examining its common themes, tropes, and characteristics and tracing how they continue to influence works of genre fiction being published today.
When she’s not reading, Julia can usually be found on the dance floor. After a brief stint in competitive ballroom dancing at The College of William & Mary, she now primarily dances blues and fusion but is always open to adding new dance styles to her repertoire.
