Francis Van Hartesveldt (1912-1970) was a broadcast writer, director and producer of radio and television programs. He was elected to The Lambs in 1943 as a Professional Member.
Van Hartesveldt was a native of Holland, Michigan. In high school he was a drum major. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan.
He conducted his own dance band before going to New York to work in advertising. He produced and directed radio shows including the “The Aldrich Family Show” featuring Ezra Stone and Robert Young, among many more.
In the 1940s he was a dog breeder of Welsh terrier puppies in North Hollywood. After World War II, he worked in California directing and producing as well as freelance writing. “Date with the Angels” (1957–1958), “Leave it to Beaver” (1957) and “Bat Masterson” (1958).
In his final years, he was working in public relations for the Los Angeles Times.
Francis Van Hartesveldt died June 29, 1970, in Studio City, California, following heart surgery. He was 59 years old.
