Join a Committee; House & Pool Committees Revived

By Kevin C Fitzpatrick 2/4/23

Members in good standing may volunteer to serve on a committee. Contact the Shepherd or the Boy to volunteer. Thank you for your service to the Club!

Here is the list of committees and the chair of each.

At this time, the Entertainment Committee is not open to new members.

We have revived two older committees that had not been active in many years. Lamb John Batteiger is the chair of both the House Committee and the Pool Committee.

House Committee

Members of the Committee:
Chairman: The Chairman will be appointed by Council and must be a Council Member.
Vice-Chairman: The Chairman will be a Member approved by Council.
Committee Members: Members of the Club who volunteer to join.
The Shepherd (Ex-Officio)
The Boy (Ex-Officio)

The House Committee was a part of The Lambs from at least 1899 until several years ago.

The House Committee exists to communicate members’ wants, needs, and complaints to the Shepherd, or in his absence, the Boy. After the House Committee discussion of the issue, the Shepherd will ensure that all items of concern are addressed. Action plans will be communicated back to members of the House Committee.

Purpose of the House Committee

The purpose of the House Committee is an advisory/support/member communication link to the Shepherd and the Boy. The purpose is to ensure standards of quality and service are maintained and meet overall Club objectives:

* To ensure the clubhouse facilities are in keeping with the goals of the Club to provide a welcoming and friendly environment to members and guests;
* To ensure the rehearsal rooms and pianos are in the best possible condition in line with the goals of the Club;
* To ensure that problems/suggestions reported by members are promptly addressed.

Responsibilities of the House Committee

* Only House Committee members are permitted to contact WNRC staff (unless there is a critical maintenance issue involving water/electricity);
* Policy Creation: provides recommendations for changes or alterations. Recommended policy changes are brought to the Shepherd, which could be brought to Council;
* Provides opinions and suggestions on all Clubhouse operations with particular attention to member satisfaction;
* Provide recommendations to the Shepherd and Boy to assist in achieving the aims and objectives of the club;
* Assist the Entertainment Committee in promoting clubhouse events and activities;
* Monitors clubhouse facilities with special focus on condition of interior decorations and their maintenance at the highest possible levels. Evaluates plans and information in order to make recommendations to the Shepherd;
* Assist in preparing strategies focused on enhanced membership satisfaction and participation in Club activities that are within the House Committee’s jurisdiction. All recommendations are presented to the Shepherd;
* Provides a communication link between all members and the Shepherd related to the Clubhouse.

Pool Committee

Members of the Committee:
Chairman: The Chairman will be appointed by Council and must be a Council Member.
Vice-Chairman: The Chairman will be a Member approved by Council.
Committee Members: Members of the Club who volunteer to join.
The Shepherd (Ex-Officio)
The Boy (Ex-Officio)

The Pool Committee was a part of The Lambs from at least 1899 until 1975.

The Pool Committee exists to manage the Billiards Room. Management ideas are brought to the Shepherd, or in his absence, the Boy. After the Pool Committee discussion of the issue, the Shepherd will ensure that all items of concern are addressed. Action plans will be communicated back to members of the Pool Committee.

Purpose of the Pool Committee

The Pool Committee shall arrange Billiards Room functions for the benefit of members and their guests in accordance with the Club rules. The Pool Committee will generally liaise with the Entertainment Committee and Games Sub-Committee to ensure members can utilize the Billiards Room at all times during Club activities.

The Pool Committee will set a calendar of events each year, consider member feedback and experiences in planning and recruit volunteers to assist in the running of Billiards Room events.

Objectives of the Pool Committee
The Pool Committee has five core objectives:
1. To promote and regulate the playing of pool at The Lambs;
2. To work with the House Committee on the administration of the Billiards Room and its facilities;
3. To agree such rules for the running of the Billiards Room as are necessary for the orderly management of the room for the benefit of all Club members;
4. To represent their interests to the Shepherd in respect to the playing of pool and the maintenance of the facilities;
5. The Pool Committee shall organize and promote such activities as are seen to encourage the use and enjoyment of the facilities.
