Sunday, June 10th, a merry band of Lambs gathered for a pot-luck Tony Awards watching party in our 5th floor quarters. Members brought drinks and snacks to share as we watched on our new 4K 55″ HDTV unit.

Our clubhouse, 3 West 51st, is just a few hundred feet from Radio City Music Hall where the Tony Awards were held. Each year the entire press corps descends and takes over 5 floors of 3 West. Some floors dozens of writers sit at laptops reporting live during the presentation. Other floors have step-and-repeat banners with dozens of photographers and videographers waiting for actors, producers, writers, and other nominees and winners, to pose and give interviews before heading off to after parties.

One floor acts as a food stop with snacks and drinks. Lambs remain on the 5th floor, but you never know who you might meet in the lobby or elevator. The Boy of The Lambs, Peter Kingsley, had chance meeting and very brief chat with Glenda Jackson (Lead Actress, Play, in Three Tall Women) in the lobby. Shepherd Marc Baron, who stayed late along with Lamb Gary Shapiro in order to put the 5th floor “whole” after the party, rode down the elevator with Tony winner Katrina Lenk (Lead Actress, Musical, The Band’s Visit).

In the future The Lambs will hold similar events for other award nights for the Oscars, SAG Awards and .. well ,who knows! Members should log in frequently and check our calendar for upcoming events.
